October 13, 2014
Bharti Airtel has launched its first pilot project to test a public Wi-Fi network in Hyderabad. The public Wi-Fi network covers 17 hotspots in an area of 8 km. It will offer 750 MB of free data per day to every customer in the area. The company is expecting about 40,000 users to access the data facility.
Under the pilot, the users will get a one-time password after selecting the Airtel’s Wi-Fi network. The company asserts that the Wi-Fi network will offer a speed of 4-42 mbps depending on the network usage.
The pilot project will continue for around three months and a suitable plan will be executed based on the feedback.
